Scott Edwards, PhD, LMFT

Education, Training, Experience

I received my Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from Virginia Tech in 2001, my Master's degree in MFT from Auburn University in 1996, and my B.A. degree in Psychology from Cornell University in 1991.

For over 25 years, I have worked as a marriage and family therapist in the clinical training programs, agencies, residential facilities, hospitals, and private practice settings. Beginning in 2001, I continue to teach in a Master's MFT training program at Seattle Pacific University. I have extensive experience with children, adolescents, and families.

Therapeutic Orientation

I approach therapy from a systemic perspective influenced by family systems theories. These primarily include experiential, solution focused, and narrative therapies. I believe it is important for me to understand your experience of your problems, your hopes for your future, and your family relationships. Your therapy goals and treatment plan will be collaboratively created, discussed, and evaluated. You have the right to choose to work with someone who best suits your needs; I encourage conversation about your perspective of what best fits you.
